Stephen Marley’s “Old Soul” – A Musical Trip Through Time & Legacy

We’re about to take a trip down memory lane with the one and only Stephen Marley as he drops his highly anticipated single “Old Soul.” Now streaming on all your fave platforms, this warm acoustic track from Tuff Gong Collective/UMe/Ghetto Youths International will make you feel all the vibes.

Bob Marley takes us on a journey into his past, exploring the musical memories that forged him as an artist. Starting from his childhood as a Marley kid, we get an exclusive peek into the music which profoundly affected him and brought him to where he is today. We’re talkin’ about the second son of Bob Marley here, so you know it’s gonna be lit! And if that’s not enough, a retrospective lyric video is droppin’ next week on Stephen Marley’s Official YouTube Channel, featuring old family photos, vintage vinyl album covers, and a whole lotta Jamaican music history.

Stephen commemorates his 51st birthday with the release of “Old Soul,” reflecting on his birth in April 1972, and how he was supposedly favored by many. The song gives us insight into his journey as an “old soul” throughout the years. Co-written with Jamaican pop star Omi, the song captures the essence of Stephen’s life, with a few tweaks to the lyrics.

To celebrate the single release and Stephen’s birthday on 4/20, Bob Marley’s Tuff Gong Radio (SiriusXM channel 19) will be playing “Old Soul” every hour on the hour, starting at 12am ET, and at 4:20 on both coasts. Tune in and catch the premiere live on Tuff Gong Radio and the SXM App!

Stephen’s 51st Earthstrong turns into a mega ‘Soul Shakedown Party’ as the Marley Brothers perform at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO for the first time, presented by Kaya Fest. With opening sets from Sean Paul, Protoje, Steel Pulse, and a special Lee “Scratch” Perry Memorial Set, it’s gonna be one for the books!

Before the world went loco with the pandemic, Stephen “Ragga” Marley and his band were on the road non-stop, delivering epic performances. During the lockdown, Stephen set up a make-shift studio in a remote family farm in Florida and held nightly jam sessions. “Old Soul” was born during these unplugged sessions, and the spirit of these jams will be felt in his upcoming tour dates and solo album.

Stephen is an artist that prides himself on staying authentic and true to his craft and “Old Soul” is a perfect example of that. He believes in the notion of honoring oneself and being honest with one’s own identity, as he puts it: “You have to be true to yourself…

I am inspired by everything.” Stephen Marley continues to spread the message of love and unity through his music, echoing his father’s words: “Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery.”

Summer 2023 brings the return of Stephen’s “Babylon By Bus Summer Tour,” featuring a dope lineup of support artists like Fortunate Youth, Skip Marley, Jesse Royal, Hirie, Arise Roots, and Roots of Creation. Kicking off in San Diego, CA in June, the tour will hit cities like Chicago, Brooklyn, and more, ending in Florida in August. Grab your tickets on Ticketmaster and get ready to groove!
